TS SPN PULSE – Fluid Bed

The TS SPN PULSE fluid bed drying technology, developed by S.I.E. S.r.l., represents the evolution of the turbine dryer patented throughout Europe by the Bianchi Engineers. Today, this technology is further enhanced through the collaboration with Claudio Bianchi Janetti, Managing Director of S.I.E. and custodian of the patents and know-how developed over decades of research and engineering in the field of industrial drying technologies. The system is designed for drying granular, crystalline and powdered products by means of a controlled fluidization process that ensures high drying uniformity, reduced energy consumption, maximum operational reliability and precise control of the process parameters.

The operating principle is based on the introduction of a process gas (air or nitrogen) into the drying chamber with a predominantly tangential flow component. This configuration generates a controlled vortex motion that keeps the product continuously fluidized, promoting constant particle mixing and highly efficient heat and mass transfer.

During the drying process, the material undergoes a progressive reduction in moisture content, resulting in a corresponding change in its bulk density. As drying progresses, the lighter particles migrate towards the upper layers of the fluidized bed, while the wetter and heavier material remains in the areas where the drying intensity is greatest. This mechanism ensures uniform drying while minimizing the risk of product overheating, thermal degradation and agglomeration.

Fine particles entrained by the process gas are captured by the upper bag filter system, equipped with an automatic pulse-jet cleaning system, and subsequently recovered without product losses.

The product residence time inside the drying chamber is controlled by means of a side discharge equipped with a variable-speed rotary valve, allowing optimization of the drying process according to the product characteristics and the required final moisture content. The unit can operate in either continuous or batch mode.
